COOLFLOW
TERMS EXPLAINED
Application Specific : Not every chiller or HVAC system uses the
same materials of construction. Eg. some have little or no aluminium or galvanised materials while others have
significant amounts (aluminium and galvanised [zinc] components are very susceptible to galvanic corrosion and
require careful pH control). Subsequently it is necessary to select specific CoolFlow blends to suit individual systems. Some
antifreeze suppliers infer that one product will suit all applications, but the inevitable compromise often leads
to long-term problems.
Please Note :
a. Automotive antifreeze should not be installed in
industrial chiller or HVAC systems as the inhibitors therein are specifically designed for use in high temperature
environments.
b. Standard MEG (available from 'chemical supermarkets')
contains small volumes of sodium borate (Borax) which acts as a pH buffer, but it is NOT a proactive corrosion
or scale inhibitor.
Synergistic Inhibitors
: There are dozens of
chemicals that can reduce corrosion activity, but the skill is identifying those which work in synergy, are compatible
with glycol and the various materials found within modern chiller systems. Hydratech have worked closely with several
glycol refiners and specialist inhibitor chemists to produce the most advanced formulations. Consequently CoolFlow
products are arguably the best choice for the long-term protection and efficient running of chiller and HVAC systems.
Non-Toxic Inhibitors : There is little point adding toxic corrosion,
scale and algae inhibitors to USP MPG as this would immediately render the classification of 'Food-Grade' redundant.
I.E. a significant amount of additional money (in comparison to an MEG based product) would be wasted. The CoolFlow FG
range of products use only non-toxic inhibitors, as approved by the FDA in the production of foodstuffs.
